American travelers bracing for another pre-trip form can stand down. Vietnam's Ministry of Health confirmed on June 30 that the border health declaration many expected to become mandatory on July 1, 2026 is not being applied automatically. Decree 165/2026/ND-CP merely establishes the authority to require one; officials will activate it only if circulating infectious diseases pose a realistic risk of reaching Vietnam through travel.
For a US passport that means the practical checklist is unchanged: the eVisa remains the standard entry route, and the Vietnam Arrival Card — a separate immigration formality — still applies at the airports where it operates. No health form joins them for now.
If the declaration is ever triggered, it can be filed electronically or on paper, in English or Vietnamese, within seven days of crossing. Until then, ignore the unofficial declaration website making the rounds — the ministry explicitly warns it is not the official channel.
