Overview
The British Embassy in Vientiane is the contact point for Lao nationals applying for UK visas — visitor, student, work and family routes — submitted through the designated UK Visa Application Centre and decided by UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). The embassy also provides consular services for British nationals in Laos: emergency assistance, passport applications, notarial services, and support for those in difficulty. The embassy is located on Rue Yokkabat Phonexay in the Saysettha district of Vientiane. British leisure travel to Laos has grown — popular highlights include Luang Prabang's UNESCO-listed Buddhist temples and French colonial old town, Mekong River cruises and morning alms ceremonies, the limestone karst around Vang Vieng, the archaeological Plain of Jars (UNESCO), and the Mekong island scenery of Si Phan Don.
