Indian Embassy in Reykjavik

Embassy of India in Reykjavík, Iceland

Overview

The Embassy of India in Reykjavik is one of the few fully resident embassies in Iceland, headed by Ambassador His Excellency Sri R Ravindra. The embassy is located on Túngata 7 in central Reykjavik. India and Iceland have a bilateral relationship that spans geothermal energy cooperation — India is one of the world's largest deployers of geothermal technology and has drawn extensively on Icelandic expertise — fisheries, Arctic research through India's observer status on the Arctic Council, and growing people-to-people ties. The embassy opened in 2005, reflecting the expanding diplomatic reach of both countries. Indian visitors to Iceland are a growing segment, drawn by the Northern Lights, volcanic landscapes, and the appeal of a destination that offers a dramatic contrast to the subcontinent.
