Overview
The Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Guinea in Frankfurt am Main is Guinea's nearest consular point for residents of Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, operating on an appointment basis from an office in Frankfurt's north. The Honorary Consul is Nedeljko Coskovic; the German Auswärtiges Amt lists the office as the active second Guinean representation in Germany alongside the Embassy in Berlin. The existence of a Frankfurt office matters especially after the closure of the Munich honorary consulate on 5 December 2025 — Frankfurt is now the only operating Guinean honorary consulate in Germany. Frankfurt's role as a financial centre and as the seat of the European Central Bank gives the mission a natural economic framing: German financial-services exposure to West African mining finance, commodities trade-finance desks at Frankfurt-headquartered banks, and the DB Schenker / Lufthansa Cargo freight corridors that connect German industry to Conakry via Brussels or Paris. Full-service consular matters — passport issuance, emergency travel documents, visas — continue to be handled at the Embassy in Berlin (Peter-Lenné-Straße 14, 14195 Berlin, +49 30 20 07 43 30), which is also formally accredited to Austria per the Austrian Foreign Ministry.
Consular Services
As an honorary consulate, the Frankfurt office provides document authentication, first-line guidance on civil-status matters, and referral to the Guinean embassy in Berlin for passport issuance, visa applications, and legalisations requiring full embassy authority. The office is a useful first contact for members of the Guinean community in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, for German business travellers bound for Conakry, and for anyone seeking initial orientation before making formal consular applications in Berlin.
Service Area
Hesse (Hessen) and Rhineland-Palatinate (Rheinland-Pfalz). Residents of other German federal states are served by the Embassy of the Republic of Guinea in Berlin. Until 5 December 2025, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg were covered by the Munich honorary consulate; since the closure of that office, residents of those states are directed to Berlin.
Appointment Information
Visits are by appointment only. Contact by phone at +49 69 5069 8670 or by email at coskovic@hk-guinea-hessen.de to arrange a time and confirm which original documents to bring. The consulate's hours are not set in advance — appointments are scheduled around the Honorary Consul's availability. For urgent passport or visa needs requiring embassy authority, contact the Guinean embassy in Berlin directly rather than the honorary consulate.
Special Notes
Honorary consulates are staffed on a part-time basis by prominent local figures appointed by the sending state, and the Frankfurt office is no exception. The consulate's correspondence can be handled in German, and French — Guinea's administrative language — can be used with the main office in Berlin. The Honorary Consul's email domain (hk-guinea-hessen.de) uses the common convention for German honorary consulates, where 'hk' stands for 'Honorarkonsulat'.
